When I ask business owners, “Where do you want to be in 12 months time? What’s your vision? What’s your plan for your business?” Most people come out with nonsense like, “Well I want to earn more money, I’d love to be able to spend more time with my family, I need to take an apprentice or I want to move office, I want to buy a car.” All that rubbish.
That is not a 12 month business vision. They are dreams, they are desires, they are wish lists, they are new years resolutions that you will have now broken. Only when you get your 12 month vision written down in the 11 key areas, does your vision become a reality.
Now what I’m going to do for you is I’m going to leave below in the comments the 11 areas that you need to be writing your vision around. These are the 11 areas that are taken out of my business planning masterclass, and here’s what I want you to do.
I want you to sit down with those 11 areas and I want you to ask yourself this question. Where am I going to be in 12 months time in each of those 11 areas? Then you write it down as though you’ve already got it, as though you’ve already achieved it. So it could be the cash and finance section, and you could write down ‘I will earn and take out of my business £100,000 a year’, but you have to make it real.
You have to write it down as though you’ve already got it. And once it’s written down, that becomes the first part of your plan, but more importantly it gives you a vision of where you’re heading over that 12 month.
