People attend networking events for a number of reasons, but one of them is to meet new contacts with a view to building relationships to win more business, but I am staggered at the amount of people that rock up at networking events unprepared. They rock up at networking event without wearing, you’ve got it, a name badge.
Why is it so important that you wear a name badge at every event? Well listen. You are a nameless person if you don’t wear a badge. It’s difficult enough as it is attending network events, and it is quite daunting approaching strangers and not knowing what to do, or the right things to say. So, let’s make it easy for people to approach you by wearing a name badge. If I’m a networking event now with my badge on, it’s really easy, and I make it easy, for people to come and approach me and go, “Hi Craig, nice to meet you. What is it you do?”
But so many people attend being a faceless, nameless person.
So quick tip; when you book onto a networking event, find out from the organisers if they provide name badges. If not, you can create your own name badge on something called canva.com and put it into a little plastic wallet, or you can have magnetic badges made online for around 10 pounds. But please make sure that you attend a networking event, as a person, with a name badge.
