When was the last time you took some me time, sometime out of your business to reward yourself and spend some time on yourself rather than your business?
I don’t know about you, but I always used to feel guilty about taking time out of my business. Why? Because I got a million and one things to do, and taking time out just put me under more pressure. Until one day, bang, I hit a brick wall and I had a burnout. And it was at that point when I realised that it is as important to take time out of your business and give yourself a little bit of a rest than it is to be constantly working on it, all the time.
Look at professional sports athletes, yeah. They have rest time. They have rest periods built into their training program so they’re on peak performance on the day of the race. So, if we’re going at it at a hundred miles an hour constantly, we are going to end up burning ourselves out.
What I Do
And that’s what I do often, I take myself out of my business and I just go on a walk, and I usually spend all day walking. I bring a notepad and pen, and I just make some notes. I just give my brain and my mind-set a rest from the rat race of business.
Now, my question to you is, what are you going to do to take time out of your business to give your old mind a rest so you can be on peak performance as and when you need to?
